Mario's Galactic Adventure Teaser Debuts, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that focused exclusively on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
Following up on the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the distant reaches of the universe. In his journey, he meets a new princess and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Cosmic Adventure Drawing from Beloved Titles
Similar to the games from the Wii period that act as its source material, Mario will venture away from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.
But it appears Mario and his sibling Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who reportedly utilizes powers related to metal. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also contains hints to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Come Back and Grow
The film will welcome back of the original voice cast, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
A Significant Period for Mario
The upcoming Mario film is planned to debut near the 40th anniversary of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 looks set to be a significant year for Mario and his friends.
The company has three new games officially announced for 2026, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
